Food for promoting good vision refers to a selection of foods that contain specific nutrients and antioxidants that are beneficial to the eyes. They contribute to the prevention of various eye conditions and support overall vision. Here are seven (7) foods that can promote good vision.

Carrots; it is rich in beta-carotene, which is a precursor to vitamin A, it is essential for maintaining the health of the cornea and promoting good night vision.

Spinach; contains lutein and zeaxanthin, these antioxidants protect the eyes from harmful high-energy light waves like ultraviolet rays, potentially preventing age-related macular degeneration.

Salmon; salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which contribute to the structural integrity of the retina, and can lower the risk of dry eye syndrome and age-related macular degeneration.

Eggs; contain lutein, zeaxanthin, and zinc. Lutein and zeaxanthin in eggs filter harmful high-energy visible (HEV) blue light, while zinc supports the health of the retina.

Broccoli; packed with antioxidants and vitamin C, it protects the eyes from oxidative stress, and supports the health of blood vessels in the eyes, reducing the risk of cataracts.

Sweet Potatoes; it is high in beta-carotene, and it support the production of pigments in the retina, which in turn aids in low-light and color vision.

Berries; especially blueberries are rich in anthocyanins which contain anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that potentially reduce the risk of cataracts and improve overall eye health. 

In conclusion, adding these foods to your diet is a good approach to promoting good vision, preventing eye diseases, and maintaining eye health.
