Being pregnant and having a child is a beautiful feeling. During pregnancy, you hear different advice from family, relatives, friends, sometimes from strangers!  These suggestions may include the type of fruits to eat. Research has shown that watermelon is a safe fruit for pregnant woman. Watermelon has over 90 percent of water, plus it’s very yummy and tasty.

Watermelon contains potassium, magnesium, Vitamin C, A and B6.

Here are reasons water melon is great for pregnant women.

  • Helps with swollen legs. Edema or slight swelling of the feet and hands is a common problem with pregnant women. However, watermelon reduces the blockage in the veins or muscles. This prevents edema.
  • Helps with heartburn: The feeling that what you ate is still  in your food pipe will disappear with water melon.
  • Morning sickness: This is a nightmare for some pregnant women, especially in the first trimester. Guess what! Watermelon to the rescue. It contains nutritional and energizing properties that helps prevent reoccurring morning sickness.
  • Increases immunity: As a pregnant woman, you are eating for two. Medical experts say that a immunity is usually  low for pregnant women. Watermelon helps to build your immunity. It contains lycopene, an antioxidant that is responsible for its red color, which helps reduce the chances of pre-eclampsia by 50 percent.

·   Helps with  Fetus Bone Formation

Watermelon is very high in calcium and potassium, minerals that are directly linked to the proper bone development of your unborn baby.

Please remember to ask your doctor if watermelon is safe for you.
