The Health Benefits of Beetroot

We all eat beetroot in different ways but do not give much importance to this vegetable in our party but do you know that beetroot is highly important for us but intact and as juice pack with essential nutrients.

Beetroot is a Greek source of fiber and other numerous nutrients including iron, potassium and so on. It has also been associated with numerous health benefits which will be discussed in this article. It is a fruit that us delicious raw but it is frequently cooked or pickled. Below are health benefits of beetroot.

1. Lower blood pressure: The nitrate content of beetroot is converted to nitric oxide which helps to improve blood flow. It is beneficial on the cardiovascular system and helps to reduce blood pressure. Drinking beetroot juice lowers the blood pressure level by an average of 4 to 5 points.

2. They improve inflammation: They reduce inflammation because of the betalain content in it which is partially due to its ability to interfere with the inflammatory signaling process. The betalain is so effective that the beetroot extract supplements could rival the benefits of certain synthetic drugs.

3. They boost immunity: They are high in nutrients such as zinc, copper and vitamin which are known to boost immunity. Vitamin A increases anti body to produce white blood cell which helps to fight against diseases and keep the body disease free. The iron content in beets is needed to carry oxygen throughout the body, keeping your cell strong and also enhance immune defense.

4. They have cancer fighting property: The betanin which had been said earlier on helps the body to fight against cancer. Beetroot has been known for its antioxidant properties which protects the cells from free radicals. Some scientists see the potential for beetroot extract for use in chemotherapy.

5. Improve the digestive health: Beetroot is good for the gut because of the high content of fiber embedded in it. The fibers hereby resist digestion in the stomach and small intestine and travels intact into the colon. Eating enough fiber protects against constipation, colon cancer, acid reflux, ulcer and obesity.
